It's final resting place in the home is on polished concrete floors and in our experience, as much as we love colour, we find the warmth and organic feel of natural timber provides a beautiful juxtaposition to the cold, clinical feel of concrete. It's final resting place in the home is on polished concrete floors and in our experience, as much as we love colour, we find the warmth and organic feel of natural timber provides a beautiful juxtaposition to the cold, clinical feel of concrete. Bringing warmth and soul into the space, it's rustic appearance makes you feel relaxed in its presence. It's a low line entertainment unit based on our Sacred Heart Cabinet that is on the shop floor. This piece was a custom order for a homesick Hispanic lady who has decked her house out in Adobe Style from top to bottom with rough rendered walls and terra cotta tiles. The starting point for her custom piece was the hand painted sink that she bought in Mexico and she basically gave us free reign to make a vanity around it. Got a chance here to use some hand-cast longhorn handles and lone star. I had these cast in 25% nickel; 75% bronze from the originals that were cast iron and that we picked up in Austin, Texas. I went for the nickel and bronze because our customers in Sydney are often near the coast and the cast iron ones would turn to rust pretty pronto. The nickel and bronze will last forever. This one has verde green decorative beading and the whole cabinet, inside and out, is finished in muted Mexican flag colours. Karl loves this piece which is usually the 'kiss of death' meaning it's a little too 'out there' for the general public but he's happy to be proven wrong.
